ABOUT KNARESBOROUGH SCHOOL OF SPEECH AND DRAMA

The Knaresborough School of Speech and Drama was established by Denyse Smith in 1984. It is reputedly the longest-running privately owned peripatetic drama school in the country and unquestionably one of the most successful.
Our students receive fantastic results in their LAMDA Examinations. All our students who have wanted to pursue a career in drama, musical theatre, or music have secured a Higher Education place and many are now working in the profession. KSSD is not just for those who wish to work in the performance industry but for all students interested in speech and drama as a worthwhile and interesting hobby. Taking part in our classes helps to develop confidence, self-discipline, and, in many cases, lasting and lifelong friendships.

INFANT DRAMA
JUNIOR DRAMA
INTERMEDIATE DRAMA
Our Infant class is perfect for 4-8 year olds to experience drama for the first time. They will enjoy playing games, expressing themselves, and having a go at performing.
Our Tuesday Junior class is perfect for our younger students. You will learn to develop your confidence and creativity in a supportive and fun class. In this class, our students often choose to undertake LAMDA Examinations, compete at festivals, and perform for friends and family.
In our Thursday Intermediate class, you will learn to develop your confidence, skill and creativity in a supportive and rigorous class. In this class, our students may choose to undertake group LAMDA Examinations, compete at festivals, and explore a range of new skills while working on a variety of styles of theatre.
MASTERCLASS
INTERMEDIATE PRODUCTION
SENIOR PRODUCTION
Our Masterclass is perfect for more experienced students. In Masterclass, our students work on a range of dramatic techniques, including devising, script work, mask work and more! Many of our Masterclass students go on to study drama in Higher Education and pursue careers in the arts.
Our Intermediate class is perfect for those who thrive on performing. Each term, our students work towards a performance. Confidence, performance, and teamwork skills will be developed throughout the term, and our students always find the performance incredibly rewarding.
Our Senior class is perfect for those who love performing. Each term, our senior students work towards a performance, developing their technical skills and confidence in the process. Our students always find the final performance incredibly rewarding.
PRIVATE LESSONS
All our teachers offer private lessons. These are tailored to the individual students. Some choose to focus on confidence, while others work towards LAMDA examinations or drama school auditions.
